Jim Moore and Charlie Johnson's monsoon season night fire support mission brought back Tom's memory of Bill Wilde assaulting Cambodia.
I am not sure if it was on this mission (the one Charlie referred to with Jim Moore) or another one at the same SF camp (the one by the Cambodian border just south of where Rt. 1 enters Cambodia) when my hooch mate Bill Wilde, then Heavy Weapons Section Leader, was flying in support of what sounded like this mission.
As Bill and others related the mission to me, Bill was so annoyed by a .51 cal firing at or towards them from the Cambodian Customs shack at the border crossing that he went low level, turned off all lights and fired into the window of the Customs building at close range with rockets. This shut off the .51 cal that was agitating him and the other gunships.
Upon his return there was some concern about an international incident, but nothing came down and after a few days we all forgot it.
