Michael J. "Mike" Galloway - Eulogy
Deceased Sunday 9 December 2013

Pat Eastes: Mike was a guy that I flew with a lot. He was as good a pilot as there was in the Centaurs, and had the attitude that made him a great gunship pilot.
We were in some heavy firefights together, and if he was scared (I sure was), he didn't show it. Out of the cockpit, he was funny as hell and a great guy to be around.
One of my favorite remembrances of Galloway was a time when several of us were having a beer (or two), and eating some jalapenos out of a can. We got down to the last pepper, and Mike felt that it was a good idea at the time to drink the juice from the can. He survived, but the next morning in the latrine wasn't pretty.
I last talked to Mike just before the Tucson reunion; he was very sick at the time, and really wanted to attend the reunion, but his health just did not allow it. I was fortunate to fly with and know Mike Galloway.
Tom Meeks: I knew Mike in Vietnam and flew with him numerous times. As we all know he was a damn good pilot and fearless. After my tour, i went to Cobra Hall where I met Mike when he showed up to begin teaching Cobra Transition. I got to know another side of Mike there that brings a chuckle to mind. Mike and a fellow IP named Ken Barwick were always fooling around, but one time comes to mind.
Cobra Hall had several social gatherings over the year and this particular time the Commander wanted everyone to come in formal attire. As the event got started, everyone was showing up: Mike and Ken, a fellow IP had found some T-shirts that had a Tux printed on them and the shoes of course, were tennis shoes. Everyone thought the Commander was going to go off but he actually went over and told them how nice they looked. Not sure if anything ever came of that episode. Would have been nice if Mike could have made it to one of the reunions. I think all that knew Mike will miss him. RIP Mike.
