Info/Obituary for Raymond W. Richards

Raymond William Richards Jr., 71, of Bellingham died January 29 in his home following a long illness. He was the husband of Diane (Waitkevich) Richards for the past 42 years.

Born in Newton, October 26, 1946, the son of the late Raymond and Adelaide A. (McPhee) Richards, Mr. Richards had lived in Newton until moving to Franklin when he was a teenager. He lived in Franklin until moving to Bellingham 42 years ago.

He was a graduate of Franklin High School and the Franklin Institute of Technology.

Ray had been a mechanical engineer for the Hallamore Company for many years. Ray served in the Army during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Specialist 5th Grade.

He was the former State Commander of the Massachusetts Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and volunteered for the Town of Bellingham as its Veterans Agent for 15 years.

He was also a member of and former Exalted Ruler of the Franklin Lodge of Elks.

Ray volunteered for many years as a service agent at the Brockton VA Hospital. He loved to go hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Raymond W. Richards III and his wife Jennifer of Medfield and Mariann Richards Fark and her husband Kason of Richmond Hill, GA.

He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Richards of Lakeville, Gene Richards of Franklin and Mark Richards of Cumberland, RI, and his sister Cindy Richards of Barrington, NH.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nathan Richard Fark (5), Madison Rae Fark (2) and Ruby Jean Richards (5 mos).
