Daniel Durwood Perry, 67, of Madeira Beach, FL, passed away August 3, 2017, after a short decline following complications of pneumonia at Bay Pines VA Hospital. He was surrounded by a loving circle of friends and family.

Born March 9, 1950, in Peterborough, NH, to Harold and Theresa (Cavanaugh) Perry, Danny grew up in the rolling hills of Colebrook, NH. He attended Colebrook Academy, where he was a member of Future Farmers of America, and worked on his father's dairy farm throughout high school with younger brother Dennis.

After graduation in 1968, he enlisted into the US Army the following year. He served in Vietnam from 1970 to 1971 as a helicopter door gunner and mechanic, earning a national defense service medal; a Vietnam service medal with two bronze service stars; a Republic of Vietnam campaign medal with 60 device; an Army commendation medal with one oak leaf cluster; an air crewman badge; and a rifle expert badge.

In 1976, he moved to Portland, ME, with his high school sweetheart, Krista (Bunnell) Perry of Canaan, VT. In 1982, they had one daughter, Nicole Perry, whom he adored, and who currently resides in Philadelphia, PA. While in Maine, Danny was employed by the US Postal Service as a letter sorting machine operator for 25 years. In his free time, he liked to play racquetball, go for bike rides, lift weights, and spend days at Sebago Lake with his family.

After retirement, Danny moved to Madeira Beach, FL, where he enjoyed boating, fishing, and traveling, including a trip to Ireland in celebration of his Irish heritage. In Florida, he was a member of the American Legion Post 273 and a lifetime member of Vietnam Veterans of America and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Danny spent the last 15 years with his longtime companion, Sue Ellen Lintz of Madeira Beach, FL.

Danny will be remembered as a loving father, generous friend, and master of April Fool's Day jokes. He leaves behind his daughter, Nicole Perry; brother, Dennis Perry (Linda); nephew, Wade Perry; niece, Wendy (Perry) Riendeau (Steve); aunt, Sheila Beauchemin (Keith); longtime companion, Sue Ellen Lintz; former wife, Krista (Bunnell) Perry; various cousins, grandnieces, a grandnephew, and a large community of friends and family in New Hampshire, Maine, and Florida.
