Obituary: Richard Joe Mull - 1949-2021, 72, of the Mauney Cove Community, passed away at his home on November 8, 2021.

Born, February 22, 1949, Joe was the son of the late Charlie and Lela Rathbone Mull. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard Mull, Jr., and his siblings, Billy Mull and Julie Hicks.

Joe was a native of Haywood County and a 1967 graduate of Tuscola High School. Joe served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at Home Specialty Store and Tuscola High School as the shack guard for many years. He enjoyed working on cars, fishing, wrestling, and football. Joe was a very loving and compassionate man that would help anyone in need.

Left to cherish Joe’s memory are children, Michael Stamey (Shannon Duplechain) and Laura (Chris) Mull Fowler; brother, Hugh (Carrie) Mull; sister, Lela Franklin; brother-in-law, Bud Hicks; grandchildren, Nick and Sarah Fowler; nieces, Lela Evans (Richard Walker) and son Daniel, Tricia (Jose) Ledford and daughter Hannah; along with numerous extended family and friends.

A Funeral Service was held at 7 pm Friday, November 12, 2021 at Smoky Mountain Chapel. The family will received friends from 5-7 prior to the service.
