Obituary:

Alan T. Legg Sr., 70, of Harriman Road Ext., died on Sunday, March 8, 2015, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy after a long illness.

Born in Albany, Alan was the son of the late Harold and Lillian Sweeney Legg and husband of the late Carol Bix Legg. Alan had resided in Rensselaer before moving to Averill Park in 1977. Alan had been a mechanic at the Sterling Winthrop Co. in Rensselaer and had retired in 1990.

Alan was a veteran of the Army serving from 1965-1967 as an Aerorifleman, was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Troy and enjoyed woodworking and time spent with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Brooke (Robert) Ducharme of Petersburgh, Alan T. Legg Jr. of Averill Park and Brendon C. Legg of Richmond, Va.; his sister, Virginia Brunswick of East Nassau; and his grandchildren, Amanda Lynn, Christian James and Carolyn Monica Ducharme. If desired donations in memory of Alan T. Bill Watkins: Legg carried an M79 Grenade Launcher and was as good of a shot with that as I was with the M60. Once when I was given an order to check out some gooks about a quarter mile away, I needed some one to go with me. Legg said he would follow me to hell and back and be my back up always.
