Info Sheet - Obituary - Rodney D. Lacewell
Deceased 8 November 2022
To all of Rodney's friends, from Teresa:
Two days ago on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 Rodney took his last steps on this earth and made his last flight up through those skies he loved to fly. This time instead of coming back down to earth he made that last auto-rotation and was escorted into Heaven. He was 72 years old. Although we were surprised, God was not. The day God had chosen for Rodney to go home to heaven had been established before he was even born. God's hand is wonderful. We thank God for the gift He gave us in Rodney and the years and days we were all able to share with him. Rodney and I share 5 children and 5 grandchildren (with one on the way) . He has 3 loving sisters, one brother and many extended family members too numerous to count that loved him. And he has you...the people who have touched his life and been touched by him. For those of you who were his students, he so enjoyed teaching you and turning you into the fine pilots you are today. He was so happy when you reached out to him in the years following your class time with him. Those of you that played golf with Rodney were a rich blessing in his life. He so enjoyed his time with you as you hit that little ball around the grass. Golf was so much more than a game, it was a time of fellowship for Rodney. Thank you to the Viet Nam buddies who have kept up with him the last few years. I thank all of you for helping to form him into the man he became. Our County Line Baptist Church family is an extension of the families that we were born into. He was a Sunday School teacher admired by his class and was always there to work hard on work days. There are so many of you out there that I have not mentioned that had an important impact on Rodney's life and I want to thank you. I know all of you will grieve with our family as we miss Rodney's physical presence in our lives but please understand that we have not lost Rodney, we know exactly where he is. He is with his Lord and Savior in that place we call Heaven where there is no pain or sorrow. I cannot wish him to be any other place. I rejoice in his home going! I know that all of you share with us in this time of grieve and rejoicing. I thank you in advance for all your kind words. Rodney was special to each and every one of you as he was to us. Remember, God will never leave us or forsake us. He is our strength and comfort. He holds us in His arms. There is not better place to be. We will have a Memorial Service for Rodney on Saturday, November 12 at County Line Baptist Church, Enterprise, Al. There will be visitation starting at 10:30 am and a service to honor Rodney at 12 noon. Blessings. Teresa Lacewell
