Bob Acker: I flew a whole bunch of missions with John up in the right seat, Russ Mattison in the left and John Albers as Crew Chief. They were all stellar individuals.
JIm Filiatreault: He was the most gentle giant you would ever know. I remember in flight school he had an old Volvo that looked like a VW. We all had a good time, nothing but good thoughts about John.
Skip Dreps: John was a Brother veteran who helped me help him heal from the wounds of war. His smile and friendship was my reward as it helped me heal too.
John was a true Centaur Vietnam helicopter right seat pilot. He was devoted to God, duty, honor.. He answered our Country's call to fight for another people that we did not know for their freedom. From the ashes of war he returned home to rise, like a mythical Phoenix, to begin a new life. He overcame the horrors of his wartime experiences to return to the skies that was his home, and now heavenly home.
It was an honor to be his friend and I will always carry his smile in my heart to brighten up the darkest day.
