This is a bizarre story. About 15 years ago I started thinking about Rolf and started looking for him. I found his wife's info and sent a USPS letter to her and did not hear back. Then about a year later I got this strange phone call from a guy in Texas. It was Rolf's brother who called to tell me about Rolf. Just a few years after Rolf's DEROS he contracted some rare disease which sounded like the same thing that Pappy had. He suffered for a few years and died, but as i recall it was in about 1979.
I really liked Rolf. He was one of the guys that I wanted to stay in touch with. His widow was in Florida but had moved around.
