NOTES FROM:

Gene Peters, 3rd Plt, A Troop - 1968, reminding us of a true hero Glen Atkinson (KIA 3 Feb 1969):

Some time ago, I came to find out that Glen Atkinson is laid to rest about 18 miles from my home in Idaho! He & I served in the 3rd Platoon in A Troop for a month or so together. He got there in July & I got into the field in second week of May. I never knew him but other guys said he volunteered to get into the rifle platoon of Delta Troop after a short time in A Troop.

It was very moving for me when I put it all together. His mom was still living when we first found Glen's grave. My wife and I have been there a number of times since. (Memorial day & Veterans Day) I have lived in Idaho since 1977 and never had a clue. His Dad, a veteran, died at age 22 after WWII ! Glen was a month shy of 10 years old!

This photo from the cemetery shows Glen is laid to rest next to his dad & mom!
