Info Sheet - Leon Bond
………………………………………………………………………………………………………
My name is Leon Bond, I served with with F Troop all of 1971 as Company Clerk. My picture appears in the 1971 year book with the caption saying something like 2 plus 2 is really 4. Prior to serving with F Troop I was with F Troop 75th Rangers, commanded by CPT Jay Hickey.
When the final Brigade of the 25th Infantry Division was pulled out I did not have enough time in county to go with them. CPT Hickey arranged my transfer to the Centaurs as he believed I would have a “good” job because of the close relationship with the Centaurs who provided air support for the Rangers when needed.
I was involved in the move from Camp Frenzel-Jones to Lai Khe under the command of MAJ Tom Hamilton. My closest working buddies were Fred Rush and Jon E. (Festus) Hagen, the other Orderly Room clerks.
I was at Lai Khe for the rest of my tour and DEROSED in January 1972 shortly after F Troop moved to Long Binh.
