Info Sheet/Obituary - MIchael K. "Mike" Remington

Died 1 April 2023

Michael Keith Remington, 71, passed away on April 1, 2023, surrounded by family at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born on December 12, 1951 in Brownsville, PA to Harry and Catherine (Moss) Remington.

Mike is survived by his wife, Sherel Remington of Madison; children, Sara Remington (Marcelino) and Adam (Amal) Remington, Kerrie (Daniel) Simmons, Brandie and Kasey (Carley) Drzazga; grandchildren, Jayden, Logan, Lauren and Nadya. He was the youngest of twelve siblings and survived by Theora Remington, Mary Lou Pellick, Bernard (Cindy) Remington, Edward Remington, and Robert (Dana) Remington. Mike had many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mike was an U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam (Troop F - 4th Cavalry, 1971), a long-time employee of Lincoln Electric, and an expert in sarcasm. He was a champion bocce ball player and enjoyed being outside in his garden or poolside watching “his” birds. Mike was a very hard-working man and loved visiting with relatives. His nickname, “Master of the Universe,” has been a long running joke between loved ones and most of us thoroughly enjoyed his sense of humor because in his own words, “I have that affect on people.”

At his request, no services will be held. The family will hold a Celebration of his Life at a later date.

Frank Dillon notes that Mike was aboard the Slick flown by MAJ John Spencer when it had the engine failure- hard landing and broke the tail boom off, but no injuries.  He is also listed on the July 1972 company roster with a DEROS of 1/12/73 with ETS 1/18/73.
