John W. Brady SP4 was a Cobra Crew Chief for his first tour, then extended to fly as a UH-1 Slick Crewchief. His Cobra aircraft number was 68-17040 and named "Kentucky Woman"

John William Brady, 78, husband of the late Shelia Sumpter Brady, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024 at his home in Nicholas County.
Born March 26, 1946 in Nicholas County to the late James Robert & Elizabeth Clemons Brady, he was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam, a long-time truck driver for Roeder Cartage & Phoenix Transportation, and worked for several years as the Stud Foreman at Claiborne Farm. John enjoyed farming, camping, pulling tractors and spending time with his cats.
Surviving are 3 sons, Timmy (Stephanie) Brady & Jeff (April) Brady of Nicholas County and Jerry Brady of Berry; a brother, Robert A. (Rose) Brady; 2 sisters, Juanita Snapp of Carlisle & Janet (Jackie) Howard of Paris; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his beloved dogs, Colonel & Muffin.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 21st in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Carlisle, Kentucky.

Gary Schmidt: It was sad to see the passing of John Brady. If you wanted to look up the definition of a loud, strapping Kentucky boy, his picture would be there. When I first became a Cobra crew chief, he sorta took me under his arms and helped me a lot. He was bigger than life, that's for sure.
