I was the Service Platoon Commander during my time with CAV. Spent approximately 10 months of tour with D Troop and than F Troop.
I was originally assigned to B Company 25 Aviation Bn. The Division was notified to stand-down and return to Hawaii, I was assigned as the Service Platoon Commander. We reorganized, moved the Troop to Long Binh, and then to Lai Kai. Left troop when my year was complete..
Another unique point is I also served as the D Troop 3/4 Cav Service Commander, and later (upon promotion to Major) as the Squadron Maintenance Officer, assigned to Sqdn HQ. The time frame for my second and longest encounter with Cav was August 1976 to July 1979. Nice part about that tour was no one shot at us, and the beach was just on the other side of Kole Kole Pass.
