The guy nicknamed “Super Sarge” was “Sergeant Stegner”. He was a beetle cruncher with the “D Troop Rifles” before becoming a door gunner. He came over with the unit from Hawaii & made E6 in one year...as I remember.
He was a great guy & would never back down from a fight with the VC.
I remember him well. He had excellent leadership abilities besides being one hell of a door gunner. Fleming
