I stayed in maintenance for only about a month while We were still in Cu Chi. Began flying as a gunner on the aircraft assigned to SP4 Randy Lessard. We flew primarily as a C&C ship.
Shortly after our move to Frenzell Jones, I became Crew~Chief on 68-16436 (UH-1H). She had a lot of hours but a tough ol Bitch! For most of the time there after, moving to Lai Khe, I had 436.
I guess that not long before We moved out of Lai Khe and into Long Binh, 436 just became too old and had to give her up. That's when I got 69-15753. Damn near brand new and a fine aircraft. "Bear" Kloppel says that she was`bout the strongest that he ever flew!
