Obituary:

Michael E. (Rocky) Cimbrec, 74, passed on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022 at his home in Apollo Beach, Florida after a long illness.

Born in Saranac Lake on Sept. 14, 1948, he was predeceased by his parents Michael (Mickey) and Frances (Fran), owners and operators of The Brookside Hotel in Bloomingdale. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Marylyn (Cimbrec) Manning.

Rocky graduated from Saranac Lake High School, class of 1966 and attended Paul Smith’s College for Hotel Management.

He served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam and Germany from 1969 to 1971, and later pursued a career as an IT service technician at Control Data in New Jersey for 17 years and other small businesses in the New Jersey area.

He was a founding member of the New Jersey Replicar Club, having built a replica of a 1955 Porsche Speedster. Rocky enjoyed cruising the mountains of New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and to include riding the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive in Virginia. Also, he was an avid fly fisherman and received great satisfaction tying his own flies at home. Rocky was a member of the American Legion Post No. 927 in Gilbert, Pennsylvania and enjoyed many games of bingo at this post. He was also a member of VFW Post No. 6287 Ruskin, Florida.

He is survived by his Loving wife Linda (Taylor) of 43 years; one brother John S. Cimbrec and his wife Sandra (Gillespie) of Plattsburgh; daughters Heather and husband Joseph Adams, of Sun City Center, Florida and their children Joseph, Christopher, Hailey, and Lindsay; Hollie Stansbury and her children Rachel and Ricky of Wirtz, Virginia; a son Michael E. Cimbrec III, of Jupiter, Florida, and his children Alexis and Trent; and one nephew John (Jay) and wife Joni (Sorrell) Manning of Jay.

A private ceremony and interment will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.

Have a couple of pictures i will dig out when I can.
Right now I'm trying to dig up my dads Navy records for a memorial Back in our home town.

My wife Linda and I are looking forward to the reunion and of course meeting all of the "Brothers" Centaurs.
