Info Sheet - Joel Andres
………………………………………………………………………………………………………
CPT Andres was the Flight Surgeon for the F Troop Medical Detachment.
My tour-of-duty was Feb 71 to August 71 in Lai Khe; then, Sept 71 to late Jan 72 in Phu Loi. As I recall, a Dr. Baker (first name Daniel, I believe) preceded me at Lai Khe, and was ordered to Phu Loi upon my arrival in VN. Then, the Army transferred me to Phu Loi when Dr. Baker's VN tour-of-duty ended in Sept 1971; 2).
Randy Love was one of my Medics. because of Randy's recent 'detective work', we now know that "Vic" is ALBERT VICKERS, who died at the age of 82 in Fort Pierce, FL on Feb 27, 2021. It is sad that we couldn't find him "in time" -- I will get the family's address and send a sympathy note.
Hugh Stovall: July 7, 1972? That day I recall WELL. Doc, a few other guys and I were on our way to the PX on DaNang AFB, and about; more or less, 150-175 or so meters from the pizza shack but damn near a couple of admin or quarters barracks, WHAM. A rocket hit. Doc took a shitload of the concussion, and thank God no fragments, and blew his butt a good 10-meters or so backwards on a leg that wasn't 100% to begin with. The blast didn't make it any better.
