Centaur Scout Pilots Create an Award - 1970

.....................................................................................................................................................................................

Billy Blackmon, a Tower Operator at Cu Chi Airbase, had a habit of often catching flights/missions with some of the Centaur Scout pilots. He did this with other units also, but the Centaur pilots became good friends. He was a good Observer/Door Gunner and more than likely should have received some aviation awards.

Some 30 years later, JC Carnathan Centaur 15, now deceased, and Eric Brethan Centaur 13 got together and decided that Billy should not be without an aviation award. So they designed the one shown here and presented it to him.

Billy did not fit our strict rules as to who could be listed as a Centaur, but he certainly earned the title and is listed formally as a "Centaur Friend" on our website.
